FAMILY PROMISE UPDATE - EXTENDING MANY THANKS!
We have been busy here at St. Rita helping homeless families with children through Family Promise.

From August 24 to December 14,St. Rita parishioners prepared a full meal every Wednesday, each week, for 4 families with children housed at the Family Promise Tremont shelter. Meals included everything from chicken dishes, beef stew and meatloaf to mashed potatoes, salads, vegetables and pasta with pies, cookies and other treats for dessert. The families were very well-fed with our home cooked meals. Thank you to all who generously helped with the cooking and to deliver the meals promptly every Wednesday. In addition, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we delivered two days’ worth of full meals that included a prepared Thanksgiving feast for the families to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day.

Christmas Holiday Store Collection
We filled
a minivan and a car STUFFED with toys, clothes, coats, boots, shoes, household items,  etc. to the Family Promise Kinsman Center on Sunday, December 11. There was only room for a driver in each vehicle! In addition, we gave the center over $500 in gift cards, and over $300 in cash donations for families currently in shelter and those who have been through the program and are now living independently in the community.  All items donated were staged in store displays for the moms to “shop” for their children. (See photo of volunteers setting up the Holiday Store).Thank you for your continued generosity to this annual collection!

FAMILY PROMISE UPDATE
The St. Rita Easter Project for Family Promise was a great success with overwhelming support from St. Rita parishioners! It was a multi-step project that started with a donation drive to fill the family Easter baskets. We received an abundance of chocolate bunnies, a plethora of peeps and goodies plus practical items like socks, body wash and baby wipes. Next, parishioners worked together here at St. Rita to assemble and custom-tailor the baskets for each of the current Family Promise families. We decorated and filled 24 baskets to the brim for families living at The Haven and the Kinsman Center.

On Saturday March 19th, St. Rita youth group and parishioners delivered the Easter baskets and hosted an egg coloring party at the Family Promise Kinsman Center. The afternoon was filled with fun, smiling faces and lots of brightly colored Easter eggs - both Family Promise families and St. Rita volunteers truly enjoyed the time together. Seeing the St. Rita volunteers and youth group connect with the Family Promise families always brings pure joy! Easter is a special time to serve those in need. St. Rita was there to share God's love and support with the Family Promise families.

Thank you for your continued support.

ABOUT FAMILY PROMISE:  Family Promise of Greater Cleveland helps homeless families transform their lives. By providing temporary housing and family stability services, such as employment and life-skills programs, families can quickly obtain and sustain stable housing. Family Promise keeps all types of families together during the crisis of homelessness and provides individualized blends of services during and after their stay to help the families achieve long-term stability.

Family Promise currently manages two shelters that serve homeless families – The Haven and Kinsman Center. The shelter, known as "The Haven" at Elizabeth Baptist Church (former St. Hyacinth convent building) at 6114 Francis Avenue in Cleveland, just off 77 North/490 East at East 55th Street exit. The shelter is typically home to 10 families including 10 moms and 25 children under the age of 10. The Haven offers emergency housing for families. The Kinsman Center located at 3470 East 152nd Street, Cleveland (just beyond the corner of Chagrin Boulevard and Lee Road) provides transitional housing for 18 families in studio apartment style units.
