CHARITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE  COMMISSION SPONSORS
ANNUAL CARE AND SHARE SUPPORTING FAMILY PROMISE

Christmas can be a difficult time for formerly homeless families still struggling to get back on their feet. Family Promise strives to help families return to a typical family life as soon as possible. At the holidays, that means children making their lists for Santa and their parents shopping for their wishes. Each year Family Promise sets up a Holiday Store at the Kinsman center for families currently in shelter and families who are now on their own in the community. At the Holiday Store they are able to select unwrapped gift items (free of charge) for their children from new donated toys, clothing etc. Families are given an appointment time and number of gift selections based on family size. All the presents are wrapped, tagged and bagged for transport home to be hidden until Christmas morning.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE ITEMS WE NEED

For Kids: action figures, building sets & blocks, character toys & apparel, games, learning toys, movies, multicultural dolls, pretend play & dress up, trucks & cars, books, baby toys (2 months-36months), coats, slippers, socks & underwear, winter pajamas

Family Promise recently consolidated two shelters into one location at the Kinsman Center. Over the last year, the Kinsman Center has been under construction to make better use of the space and accommodate the same number of families and Family Promise staff at one location.
